What is NIRF?

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is a ranking system developed by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It is Launched in 2015, NIRF aims to assess and rank higher education institutions across India based on various performance parameters. These rankings provide a systematic and transparent assessment of colleges, universities, and other institutions, helping students, parents, and educators make informed decisions.

NIRF Ranking Methodology

  • Teaching, Learning, and Resources (TLR): Specializes in student-teacher ratio, or how the teaching is done, library services and building/facilities.
  • Research and Professional Practice (RP): Validates the research performance in terms of output, and published paper, patents as well as the consultancy income earned.
  • Graduation Outcomes (GO): Measures placement records, higher studies and allied business ventures.
  • Outreach and Inclusivity (OI): Ignores diversity, digital initiatives and social responsibility.
  • Perception (PR): Namely, the information concernig the subject’s peer perception and employer reputation.
